You've mastered human doing, now it's time for human being

I believe in our natural capacity to heal, despite life's challenges and limiting cultural systems. This journey may feel scary, but it's easier with someone who truly supports, listens, and sees you. I work with various identities & struggles, but most often those suffering from chronic pain, trauma, life transition, and/or relational conflict.

About

You've come to the right place

It's not abnormal to feel stuck. Maybe you're tired of feeling overwhelmed, numb, or unsure what direction to take. I won't claim to understand exactly what you're experiencing or even that I have all the answers. I believe that you are the expert on your life journey. However, I can offer expertise about the different kinds of terrain you might encounter and share tools to avoid common pitfalls and learn how to peacefully navigate obstacles. In therapy, I feel it is important to consider the whole person -- the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual components of one’s health. Thus, I use a unique combination of evidenced-based ACT, mindfulness, hypnotherapy and experiential techniques to integrate body and mind. My goal is to help you develop skills to reduce the impact of painful thoughts and emotions, and ultimately create a rich, meaningful life despite life's challenges. I help clients learn how to be their most authentic selves by addressing self-limiting patterns (e.g., perfectionism, people-pleasing, procrastination, hopelessness) that get in the way of what's important to them. I specialize in working with adults with chronic pain and managing the psychosocial impact that has on quality of life. However, I have 8 years of experience working with adults in various settings such as integrative health clinics, hospitals, residential substance abuse treatment facilities, and community counseling services. I received a Ph.D. from Tennessee State University and completed a 2 year Post-Doctoral Health Psychology Fellowship at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine with Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I also have a masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Washington University and two bachelors degrees in Psychology and Justice Studies from James Madison University. It's not always easy to seek help, so I commend you for making it this far. I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to get to know my clients and join them as they move through difficulties. Allow me to walk alongside you during yours. Erin
